1. Eligibility - Excellence in Education candidates must:
a. Have completed five years teaching experience.
b. Be a full-time classroom teacher at a public or non-public school in Southeast Texas,
East Texas or West Texas whose responsibility is the direct instruction of students.
c. Complete the Foundation’s application packet by the stated deadline.
Note: Schools that have more than fifty (50) teachers may submit two (2) nominations and schools that have more than 100 teachers may submit three (3) nominations.
2. Nomination Process - Nominations are accepted on the campus where the nominated teacher is employed between November 1, 2019 to January 1, 2020.
Schools or individuals are invited to nominate teachers; self-nominations are not allowed and nominations cannot be made by immediate family. Additionally, the nomination packet must include three typed pages of supplementary materials. Incomplete nomination forms will not be accepted. Previous winners are not eligible for nomination.
3. Application Process
Deadline 5:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 for Wayne A. Reaud Excellence in Education Packets
Deadline 5:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2020 for Frank & Nancy Newton and Gilbert I. 'Buddy' Low Excellence in Education Packets
Campuses will notify teachers who were nominated. All teachers who accept the nomination must submit a fully complete Nomination/Application Packet to the Beaumont Foundation office by 5:00 pm on the deadline in order to be considered. Do not submit a partially completed packet or any supplemental material separately. This will disqualify you.
4. Selection Process - Beaumont Foundation will announce winners in March 2020
Each participating school will select a 5-person nominating committee to receive campus nominations. Only students and teachers will serve on their nominating committee at each campus. Committee membership at Middle and High School campuses must have two teachers and three students. All elementary campuses must have student representation. The student(s) may be former student(s) from the elementary campus but must be a current student(s) in the district. Each school's nominating committee will select Campus Excellence in Education nominees per Beaumont Foundation campus allotment and submit required materials to the Foundation per the Campus Checklist by their allotted deadline. Selection of the Excellence in Education Award winners will be made by the Beaumont Foundation.
Winners will be announced in March 2020

Q: I applied last year and was not selected. May I reapply?
A: Yes. Please complete and return an application.
Some teachers apply many times before being selected
because there are so many great teachers. Nominees
are encouraged to retain a copy of their Application and
re-submit an updated Nomination/Application packet.
Q: Is there any flexibility in the application deadline?
A: Due to the selection process, we regret that we cannot
extend the application deadline. Past applicants tell us
that the biggest challenge is getting the Letters of
Support back in time. Please start with these first
and get them back before completing the application.
Q: When will I hear if I have been selected?
A: Honoree selection will be posted on the website
during the month of March 2020. Also, winners will be
notified individually via the email address they provide
on their Application.
